Residents from Versova Link Road on Friday morning joined hands with students of Rajiv Gandhi Engineering College to clean up the vicinity.
Over a 100 bags of trash were collected during the drive that began at 12 noon where students, along with residents, covered the major part of Juhu-Versova link road and the Renaissance Federation Club playgrounds.
"Our college's surrounding was extremely filthy and since we are situated so close to the mangrove area, we figured that the garbage was also affecting the plants. The resident turnout was a bit dull because it was a weekday, but we're still thrilled with the response. Also we got a good response from the BMC who even sent their trucks and extra conservancy workers to help us," said college student Akshay Kalyanpur.
