Crime branch officials arrest two men for shooting at alleged associate of Chhota Shakeel


The Crime Branch Unit 11 on Saturday arrested two men for allegedly firing at a man known to be close to gangster Chhota Shakeel.

The accused, identified as Kaushik Raj Gaur and Ahay Shinde, shot at Ajay Gosalia alias Ganda outside Infiniti Mall in Malad on Wednesday. Ganda survived but was seriously injured. He is currently in hospital with gunshot wounds to his shoulder, stomach, right leg and right hand.

Both the accused men were produced in court and remanded to police custody till September 5. "We are still finding out why they shot at Ganda," said an officer.

On Wednesday, the duo fired from a close range when Ganda was on his way out of the mall at 4 pm. As the victim fell, his attackers escaped. Witnesses at the crime scene rushed Ganda to Zenith hospital.

According to police, Ganda is a controversial figure. He also runs a real estate business and betting syndicate. Cops said he was arrested under MCOCA in the 2004 Malad land-grab case.u00a0
