With the Sena chief expressing unwillingness to become CM, the BJP foresees a chance for its leaders

On Thursday, when Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray announced at his rally in Kolhapur that he is not aiming to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the forthcoming assembly elections, it gave a new ray of hope to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Many members of the party feel that finally some other leaders will be in the running.

The first three names that come to the fore are that of Subhash Desai, Sanjay Raut, and Ramdas Kadam. BJP state president Devendra Fadnavis, union minister Nitin Gadkari, opposition leader Eknath Khadse and Vinod Tawde are also being considered. A senior BJP leader, said, "The message is clear. Finally the Shiv Sena is accepting the fact that the CM will be from the party that wins the maximum seats in the forthcoming elections."

However, senior Sena leaders claim that his statement is being misconstrued. "Our party has already decided that party president Uddhav Thackeray will be the CM," said a leader on condition of anonymity.
