Irked by Mumbai University's ban for a year, the MNS has termed it illegal.

Speaking to MiD DAY this morning, MNS spokesperson Shirish Parkar, said, "The action taken by the university is totally against democracy. We had done a sting operation and brought to their notice the lapse in the university system. Later attack was carried on as Marathi was ignored. We will act against the ban."

Apparently, the MNS, headed by Raj Thackeray,u00a0is exploring legal course against the university.

On January 27, Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) activists had vandalised Mumbai University's Fort campus for not listening to their demands. The university later had a meeting and decided to impose a year's ban on the outfit as well as on the Samtavadi Chhatrabharti. The decision was taken at a meeting of the management council on Monday.

It has been decided that university authorities will not meet delegations of MNVS and Samtavadi Chhatrabharti for a year, which implies a ban on them for the said duration.

When MiD DAY spoke to the university spokesperson, he confirmed that the university has put a ban of one-year on them after the attack.

Last week, a group of people had gone to meet the Vice Chancellor over the issue of having Marathi language as a compulsion. They were not allowed to meet him and later they vandalised the university office. The police had arrested 10 activists who had attacked the university lab and caused destruction worth Rs 45,000. They were later released on bail.
