Within six days of its Anmol Jeevan drive Western Railway has caught 670 people crossing railway tracks.
The drive, which started on January 28, is aimed at promoting railway safety measures. The tresspassers were caught at five major stations - Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Jogeshwariu00a0and Borivli - and a fine a total of Rs.1.96 till February 3. Among those caught, 28 have been sent to jail. The maximum number of peopleu00a0- 296u00a0- were caught at Dadar.
This special drive involves 80 RPF personnel as well as 25 commercial staff.
WR has complemented the drive with Various other activities, including regular announcements at all stations and advertisements in newspapers and FM radio channels. They have also put up iron fencing between tracks at all suburban stations and walls along railway boundaries to encourage people to use foot over bridges or subways instead of crossing tracks.
