Western Railway services resumed after hours of drama. Police had to resort to lathicharge to calm the protestors.
Services between Borivali and Virar were badly hit this morning when agitated mob disrupted services after a train was cancelled. The violent mob also attacked the media covering the agitation.

The problem started at 8 am when few Borivali trains were cancelled and the other Borivali trains were arriving on platform No 8.
The passengers were irate by the fact that Virar-bound locals coming on platform number 1, 2 and 3 were jam-packed. At least, 12 lakh people had been hit by the disruption.

Western Railway CPRO explained the reason for cancellation of trains. "Last night a cable stolen near Malad station which we had to replace. Only one train from Borivali had to be cancelled so that the entire schedule falls in right place," he said.
