The much-anticipated World Cup gallery at Andheri Sports Complex will open its doors to the public from Wednesday onwards, after a formal inauguration on the preceding day.
The gallery, which has been built in the honour of the two World Cup-winning Indian teams (1983 and 2011), apart from cricket memorabilia, will also contain pictures and videos of all Indian teams at previous World Cups. Sunil Gavaskar and some other members of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team will inaugurate the gallery. u00a0
Rahul Shewale, BMC's Standing Committee Chairman said, "It is just like a museum which will have details of the teams at the World Cups, wax statues of players like Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. Apart from Sunil Gavaskar and other cricketers like Kapil Dev who played the 1983 world cup, cricketers who are not attending the current India-Australia series will also be present."
