Two months after registering the demise of Shabbir Jubara as an accident, cops do a volte face and register a case of murder against three

Two months after a security guard was found dead and the Gorai police termed it an accident, the cops have registered a case of murder and framed three people for the alleged crime. However, questions are being raised on what prompted the police to do an about turn in the case?

Shabbir Jubara, a security guard was found dead in a well at Manori, Malad on December 3, 2010. At the time, the investigating officers had registered it as an accident.

Two months on, the police have lodged an FIR against Morris Kinny, Santana, Kinny's wife and son Isaac for allegedly assaulting Jubara and pushing him down a well.

In the FIR registered on February 8, Jubara's sister Ruksana said that her brother had a fight with Kinny over some property issue. She stated that Kinny had borrowed some money from a developer by the name of Madansingh Bharara.

"My brother was privy to a deal between Kinny and Bharara. Kinny suspected that Jubara was siding with the developer and hatched a plan with his family to eliminate my brother," said Ruksana. Sources say that initially the police did not carry out any investigation into the case.

However, the police refuted these claims and said that they filed an FIR against the trio after Shabbir's post-mortem report hinted at some foul play. Sub-inspector Sudhir Shinde said, "We had registered an accidental death case earlier, but after getting opinions from the doctors we have registered an FIR. We waited for all medical findings to be completed."

Conspiracy theory
But, according to Kinny, if that was the case, then the cops should have registered an FIR against unknown assailants instead of treating it as an accident.

He claimed that the entire case was a setup. "We have been framed without any reason. People who are eying our land have implicated us in the case. We were booked in a case two months after the incident happened without any rhyme or reason. We will try to get out of this messy situation."
