He was granted bail after he was produced in court, but not before he mocked a lawyer present there.

The actor and a friend were at the Trilogy nightclub at the five-star hotel, Sea Princess, Juhu Tara road late on Saturday night. Around 12.45 am, an allegedly inebriated Pancholi requested the DJ to play Hindi songs as, according to him, only English tracks were being played there.

When the DJ turned down his request, Pancholi threw a fit, calling the attention of the bouncers. "When the bouncers intervened and asked him to leave, the actor unleashed a torrent of abuse and began roughing them up. One of the bouncers, Mandar Patole tried to escort Pancholi out, but the actor lost his cool and banged his mobile handset on the bouncer's head, causing him serious injury," said Senior Police Inspector Padmakar Chavan from Santacruz police station, adding that Pancholi also damaged the glass counter at the bar in the ruckus.

Patole was rushed to the nearby civic-run Bhabha hospital where he had to get five stitches on the head, while the police placed Pancholi under arrest in the early hours of Sunday under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC.

High drama
However, the real drama began when he was produced in the Bandra Metropolitian court, where he was taken around 12.30 pm. The cops said Pancholi showed no remorse. Instead, he raised quite a commotion while he was waiting outside the courtroom, yelling out ‘Ganpati bappa morya'.

He also mocked an advocate for his hair style and said, "Yeh baal mujhe dede, Thakur," referencing the cult film Sholay. The lawyer took offence and said he would file a complaint against the actor at the Nirmal Nagar police station unless Pancholi apologised to him.

The judge decided to place Pancholi in judicial custody till March 20 initially, but then granted him bail for Rs 50,000. The court also ordered that Pancholi surrender his phone to the police for the probe. "The court ordered Pancholi to surrender his mobile handset used in the crime. If he does not surrender it, we will seek cancellation of his bail in the days to come," said Chavan.

This is not the first time Aditya Pancholi has run into controversy. In 2013, he was booked for thrashing his neighbours and has also had heated arguments with mediapersons on a number of occasions.
