A major fire breaks out at a small shopping centre adjoining a KFC outlet on Bandra's Linking Road around 10 am on Tuesday morning

Even as the city witnessed heavy downpour on Tuesday, a major fire broke out at a small shopping centre adjoining a KFC outlet on Bandra's Linking Road around 10 am.

Around 10 water tankers and 12 fire engines have been rushed to the spot to douse the fire as per latest reports. But, the heavy downpour has made the fire brigade's task of bringing the blaze under control a little more difficult.

The fire brigade received a call at 10.11 am after which four tankers and three engines were rushed to the spot. Later, as the fire still could not be controlled, further help was sent to the spot. No casualties are reported as yet.

While the authorities were yet to confirm the cause of fire, it is being said that a short circuit on the ground floor of the building may have caused the blaze. They have urged people not to use the road because of traffic congestion, and all vehicles are being diverted currently.
