Two teenagers from Sewri were arrested yesterday after Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP) officials found a loaded automatic pistol in their possession.
GRP officials arrested two young boys after they found a 7.65-calibre US-made pistol and 13 live rounds on them
Both were travelling in a CST-bound Harbour line train when police officials spotted them sniffing whitener inside the train at Nerul railway station. The duo was asked to alight and during a body search a 7.65 mm US-made pistol and 13 live rounds of ammunition were found in their possession.
After initial questioning the cops dispatched the duo to the Bhiwandi Children Remand home, as they are both minors. Police said that the boys, who are 17-years-old and are school dropouts, were caught at 5.10 pm. "The teenagers travelled from CST to Panvel first and were on their way back to CST when our police officers apprehended them at Nerul. The boys had a 7.65 calibre automatic US made pistol and 13 live rounds.
They claimed that they got it from their friend's brother, who goes by the name Bhadoo Rehman Pasha (24). They said the pistol was given to them for safekeeping," said Parshuram Karyakarte, senior inspector from Vashi GRP.
Pasha, who is said to have handed over the pistol to the minors, is in the custody of Bhoiwada police station, said Vashi GRP officials. "The boys have not said much except where they got the pistol from. However, we will be investigating Pasha to ascertain how he managed to get his hands on the pistol, the reason for possession and why he handed it over to the two boys," added Karyakarte.
