"The board has not issued such a circular. However, it is possible that ifu00a0 children wear their uniforms, they may not be targetted with balloons," she said.
The advice assumes weight in light of an incident last year,u00a0 when Holi revellers molested two 13-year-old girls studying in Std VII on Rebello Road in Bandra.
Dinesh Tarfe (42), parent of an SSC student, said, children have taken to pelting balloons a week before Holi. "Yesterday, someone tried to throw water-filled polythene bags on my daughter and me. Luckily, it did not hit us. I believe wearing one's uniform does protect students from balloons."
However, Vanita Laungare (35), mother of an SSC student believes slum-dwellers don't spare kids in uniforms. "In slums, a child may get targetted despite wearing a school uniform. Youngsters living in upscale areas are generally more understanding," said Laungare.u00a0u00a0u00a0
Jt CP Law and Order K L Prasad said his men were keeping a close watch.u00a0 "We are keeping a close watch to nab those throwing balloons or colour on strangers. It's the social responsibility of parents to stop their children from throwing balloons and colours on others. We have asked our policemen to be alert at known spots, which are used by Holi revellers to pelt balloons at passengers in running trains."
