According to a 35 year-old Andheri-based woman's complaint, two policemen from Oshiwara police station molested her on Friday around 7 pm after she tried to lodge a complaint against her husband for physical abuse.
The complainant, a resident of a MHADA colony in Andheri, sent a written complaint against the police station to the Police Commissioner on Saturday.
According to her, the incident occurred when she went to register a complaint against her husband, Don Wilmon, manager of a private logistics company. He reportedly arrived at her residence home, where she lives with her son, with his mistress and beat her up. "The police officials were unwilling to register my complaint," she said. When she threatened to approach the media, the cops forced her into a lock up, where two constables molested her. "They put me behind bars. Two constables molested me," she alleged.
According to social worker Guru Singh, who happened to be at the police station at that time, a female constable and two male constables forced her inside a cell. Singh then approached media professionals who reached the police station. Finally, the complainant was released and a non-cognisable offence was registered against Wilmon.
Senior Inspector of Oshiwara Police Station RN Rupwati was unavailable for comment.
The victim, who has a seven year-old son, had in the past filed a dowry complaint against her husband at Thane police station and sought maintenance from him.
