In a tragic incident at Mira Road, a housewife, with her three children, attempted suicide from the terrace of her building at Lodha Park, Naya Nagar.
The victim, identified as Sunita Yadav (26), was said to be under depression for last couple of days. At 7.30 am on Thursday, Sunita, along with her three children - Teesha (4), Nisha (2) and Abhishek (1) - were seen loitering on the terrace. The victim then started throwing off her children one-by-one before leaping.
Tisha died on the spot, while Sunita, Nisha and Abhishek are battling for life at Nanavati Hospital in Santacruz.
Ironically, the Mira Road police came to know about the incident only at 10.15 in the night.

Sub Inspector P D Jadhav of Mira Road police station, said, "It is unfortunate that four people jump from a building and not a single resident bothered to intimate the police. The police learnt about the incident only after Santacruz police, under whose jurisdiction Nanavati falls, were intimated by the hospital."
Preliminary inquiries have revealed that Shiv Shankar Yadav, Sunita's husband, was jobless for quite sometime and frequent arguments over running the household led to the tragedy.
The local police have registered a case under Section 174 (accidental death) under CrPC. However, only after recording Sunita's statement, will the police make a headway into the case. No suicide note was found from the spot.
