In a big shock for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to go solo in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly election. In Mumbai, the party will contest all 36 constituencies. Preeti Sharma Menon, Mumbai president of the party, held a press conference at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh in Fort to outline the party's election strategy on Monday. At the press conference, Menon declared that the party would contest the Assembly elections independently. The party will contest all 36 constituencies in Mumbai.
Menon told mid-day, "We are part of the INDI alliance for the Lok Sabha election, but we have decided to contest the state Assembly elections without an alliance. Even in Haryana, our party will contest the elections solo." She added, "For Mumbai, we have decided to contest all 36 constituencies. The process of finalising candidates has started, and we will announce all candidates after the Ganesh festival. INDI alliance is a national-level alliance, not a state-level one."
Menon also stated, "We are ready for polls. Our candidates are real aam aadmi. We can easily find candidates for all 36 constituencies in the city."
When asked if this decision might indirectly benefit the BJP-led Mahayuti due to vote splitting, Menon said, "No, there will be no vote splitting. Our voters and BJP voters are similar. We believe we can attract votes from disillusioned BJP voters, not MVA voters."
