One of the seven cages set up at Aarey to catch the leopard
Late on Thursday night, an over three-year-old female leopard was trapped in the cage set up by the forest department at Unit 3 of Aarey Milk Colony.
A resident of Unit 3 said, "Since late Thursday night the dogs in the area were barking a lot and that is when I sensed that there might be some leopard movement in the area. On Friday morning when forest department officials and a team of volunteers checked the trap cage, they found the door closed and the leopard sitting inside."
The animal was immediately rushed to Sanjay Gandhi National Park where its rosette patterns will be matched with that of the female leopard C32, which is suspected of attacking people. After that senior officials will decide on releasing it.
