Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's birthday will be celebrated as 'Ajit Utsav' across the state, Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction's State President Sunil Tatkare said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Tatkare said: "The week from July 22 to July 31 will be celebrated in Maharashtra as 'Ajit Utsav'." Pawar's birthday is on July 22. He further said that Ajit Pawar's birthday will be celebrated with social activities.
"Ajit Pawar's political career started from social causes, cooperative sector, education, art and sports. He has given importance to development during his long political journey as Lok Sabha Member, State Minister, Head of State Co-operative Bank, Legislative Assembly Member, Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition. He played the role of giving justice to all. Some may not like Ajit Pawar but the people of Maharashtra have appreciated his work and liked him as well. Maharashtra has experienced a different glimpse of Ajit Pwar's leadership for a long time," Tatkare said.
Tatkare also said that the youth of Maharashtra is also attracted towards his leadership.

"Therefore, we have thought to include all the elements in various activities on the occasion of Ajit Pawar's birthday. Marathon competition, blood donation camp, distribution of educational materials in schools, distribution of water filters, umbrellas, distributing free bicycles to school girls, tree planting, honoring freedom fighters, these are some of the activities that will be undertaken on occasion of Ajit Pawar's birthday. These activities will be done within a week," he said.
Other activities like employment training for women, guidance on what business women can take up and camps on women's health will also be conducted, during the week from July 22 to July 31, said Sunil Tatkare.
"To tackle the problem of unemployment amongst youth, the NCP's Youth Wing, under the leadership of State Youth Wing President Suraj Chavan, we will organise a 'Rojgar Naukri Mahotsav' in the state. Through this gathering, we will strive to provide employment opportunities to the youth," Tatkare said.
Indoor sports competitions will also be organised. Apart from this, "self-defense camps" will be organized in schools and colleges on behalf of the NCP between July 22 to July 31, Sunil Tatkare said.
