In a new development into the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiren, the owner of the explosives-laden Scorpio car which was found near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, his brother said that the cops told the family that the Thane businessman was killed and thrown in the water.
Speaking to mid-day, the deceased businessman's elder brother Vinod Hiren claimed that cops informed the family that the cause of death was drowning but also said that he was initially killed before thrown into the water.
"We have been told by cops that he was killed first and then thrown in the water," Vinod Hiren said.
On Saturday, after the family refused to claim the dead body of Mansukh Hiren and asked the authorities to make his post mortem report public, DCP (Zone 1) had reached Hiren's residence and reportedly explained the cause of death as mentioned in the post mortem report.

Mansukh Hiren, the owner of a car accessories shop in Thane, was in the news last week when investigations revealed that the Scorpio abandoned outside Ambani's house, belonged to him. Hiren had told cops that his vehicle had a breakdown at Vikhroli, and later it was stolen.
While the case has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorist Squad, Hiren's family, including wife Vimala, has rejected the âsuicide by drowning' theory pointing out that Hiren was an excellent swimmer.
