The Bombay Goods Transport Association (BGTA) participated in the one-day bandh on Friday called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA).
The transport operations in key areas like Masjid Bunder, Andheri, Vashi and Bhiwandi were suspended and truck movement was relatively less on the highways.
While industrial areas around Mumbai like Ambernath, Vasai, Tarapur also witnessed lower vehicular movement, traders in many areas had shut shops throughout the day.
"The one-day bandh was successful. As AITWAs members are goods transport companies, all observed discipline in maintaining the bandh. All car manufacturers supported the bandh as car carrier association supported after getting confirmation from their Original Equipment Manufacturers," Mahendra Arya, national president, AITWA and former president, BGTA.
