The spot where the teenage girl’s body was found along with two mobile phones
The Khadakpada police, which is investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a derelict Kalyan building on Saturday, have revealed that the deceased had been captured by CCTV cameras walking with her boyfriend, Krishna Shirsat, towards the spot where her corpse was discovered. Shirsat, a 22-year-old B Pharma student, died after allegedly jumping in front of a running train between the Kalyan and Shahad railway stations on January 14, the day the teen - a Kalyan resident - went missing.
Sachin Gunjal, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 3, said that Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302 (punishment for murder) had been added to the charges in light of the new evidence. The police said they were investigating the reasons why the youths' relationship had soured.
Background
After the girl was nowhere to be found, her family filed a missing complaint at the Khadakpada police station, and a kidnapping case was registered under Section 363 of the IPC. "On January 21, the girl's body, which had injuries, was found. We found two mobile phones near the corpse. They belonged to the deceased and Shirsat. The investigators later learnt that Shirsat died by suicide on January 14," said a police officer.

The relationship
The police said that earlier, the minor and Shirsat used to stay in Ambarnath. After they became close, both their family came to know about the relationship and issues cropped up. Shirsat's family later shifted to Kalyan a year ago while the youth went to Sambhaji Nagar to pursue his education. "He would frequently visit Kalyan and was in touch with the girl," said a police officer. Shirsat's brother told mid-day, "We are not aware of what happened. I was just informed that Krishna had died by suicide and we retrieved his body."
Cop Speak
According to the police, the teen and Shirsat had been in a relationship for more than a year. The girl also had a heart-shaped tattoo on her chest bearing the words âLove Krish'. It was learnt that Krishna had paid for it.
The investigators believe that Krishna had killed the girl before taking his own life. "On examining CCTV footage, we saw Krishna and the girl walking together in Kalyan. They were both seen heading towards the spot where her body was found later. While returning, Krishna was alone. He had also changed his clothes," said a police officer.
Last call
The police also found out that Krishna had called his father before ending his life. "He informed his father that he had killed the girl and he was going to die by suicide. Before the family could do anything, he did the deed," added the police officer. The Khadakpada police investigating the matter are waiting for the post-mortem report of the girl. "It clear that Krishna killed the girl. But the motive is unclear. We are investigating the matter to find out what led to the murder," said S Patil, senior police inspector, Khadakpada police station.
