The alleged birthday bash of a constable's son at the Pratiksha Nagar Police Quarters in Sion on Friday night, took a wild turn when a group of men were found indulging in lewd dancing with a woman, by mid-day's photographer.
When this newspaper alerted the Mumbai Police on Saturday, a constable was called in for inquiry, who claimed that he was celebrating his son's fifth birthday. According to the Wadala TT Police, the party was organised by the constable at C building in the Police quarters on Friday night.

mid-day lensman Atul Kamble, who clicked the photographs, said he noticed the celebrations from across his window around 9 pm on Friday. The party, which was being held on the seventh floor, continued until midnight, with music playing throughout the time.
When mid-day visited the building the following day, it was locked. Neighbours refused to speak about the previous night's incident, but confirmed that a party had taken place, and that some unknown women were seen on the seventh floor.
When contacted, Shailendra Pasalwad, senior inspector, Wadala TT Police, initially refused to acknowledge the incident. Later, after photographs from the celebration were shared, he assured that he'd launch a probe. A police van was then sent to the building.
"A constable living on the second floor of the building had organised a party. We have called him for an inquiry. According to preliminary investigations, he had called some of his friends to celebrate his son's birthday," said DCP Vijay Patil, Zone 4. The constable has been identified as Praveen Sarvade, who is attached to Vakola police station.
Speaking to mid-day, Sarvade said, "I had planned a close party with 20 people. I knew that a flat on the seventh floor was vacant and took the keys, so that guests could sit and eat. A transgender woman came and blessed my son and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter at my home. After that, my friends took her to the seventh floor."
He added, "I really don't know what happened there. Around midnight, when I went to close the flat, I saw them dancing. I immediately asked them to vacate the flat. This has turned into a complete nightmare."
Dr Dnyaneshwar Chavhan, Additional Commissioner (Central Region) said that the constable is being questioned. "We will take a call after that."
At the time of going to press, two transgender persons from Wadala, identified as Rahul and Sultana, were called in for questioning.
