The Tilak Nagar police on Monday registered the case against the manager of Chheda Nagar Gymkhana for allegedly violating pandemic rules by allowing a wedding function comprising over 200 people instead of the permitted 50. Police also booked the bride and the groom's parents for breaking rules and inviting over 200 people to the function. The civic body took action against people who did not wear masks during the event at the gymkhana.

The M ward's medical officer Dr Bhupendra Patil said, "People have knowledge about the law and yet they are breaking rules. Only 50 people are allowed for wedding functions but they invited more than 200 people. People were freely roaming without masks. Everyone knows that wearing a mask is compulsory but still they are ignoring the rules. People were roaming around as if they are from the bride and groom's family and cannot get COVID, but it is wrong. They should follow all the rules and regulations."
"The Gymkhana also didn't take any permission from us. We registered the case against the gymkhana's manager and the bride and groom's families at Tilak Nagar police station," Dr Patil added.
A police officer from Tilak Nagar police said, "We received information on Sunday night at 10 pm that many people have gathered for a wedding at Chheda Nagar Gymkhana and proceeded for a raid. We immediately registered a case under Sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 34 (Common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against the gymkhana's manager and the bride and groom's families. We will take action."
