All pre-monsoon work has to be completed before May 31, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered while reviewing the work progress on Monday. He has also given directions to clear debris from 450 constructions sites and desilt nullahs before monsoon arrives.
The CM held a meeting at his official residence Varsha with representatives of governing authorities including Chief Secretary of State Manukumar Srivastav and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation chief I S Chahal.
As Mumbaikars face waterlogging and potholes every monsoon, all authorities were told to expedite work to prevent waterlogging in Mumbai, including cleaning of 47 culverts along the Eastern and Western Express Highways and fixing all potholes.
He has also ordered civic officials to take preventive measures to control mosquito breeding grounds, especially at work sites including Metro and other infra projects.

Thackeray has also asked officials to prepare plans for koliwadas and other coastal localities in case of heavy rain and increased wind speed during monsoon.
