All essential and non-essential shops in Thane district have been allowed to function till 10 pm from Monday to Saturday.
On Sunday, essential shops can function till 10 pm, however, non-essential shops will remain shut. Shopping malls have not been allowed to open as per new rules.
The decision came after a meeting of District Disaster Management Authority, Thane on Tuesday.
New set of rules were released by the Government of Maharashtra recently giving some relaxation to shops and other establishments to the districts having less number of patients. Mumbai Municipal Corporation released its regulations on Monday, while Thane district was yet to announce its regulations.

The new rules will be applicable to Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Mira-Bhayander and Ulhasnagar corporations. They will be applied with immediate effect.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Rajesh Narvekar, collector of Thane district.
