On Thursday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working president Supriya Sule state that Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis was responsible for the police action on Maratha quota agitators in Jalna. she further alleged the Maharashtra and Union governments were not serious about reservations for various communities.
On September 1, several persons, including 40 police personnel, were injured and a few state transport buses were set ablaze in violence in Antarwali Sarathi in Ambad tehsil in Jalna.
Supriya Sule said, "The state and Union governments are not serious about quota to Marathas, Lingayats, Muslims, Dhangars etc. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke about solving the Dhangar reservation issue in a meeting in front of our house in Baramati but he seems to have forgotten about it."
She added, "The police lathi-charged protestors in Jalna for which Fadnavis (who holds the Home portfolio in the Eknath Shinde government) is responsible. The Union government must convene a special session of Parliament to find solution to the issue of reservations."

Mocking the Maharashtra state government's 'shasan aplya dari' (government at your doorstep) initiative, Sule stated that what is prevailing is "ED and CBI (central probe agencies) at your doorstep", a reference to cases against several opposition leaders.
Meanwhile, the Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange asked the Maharashtra government to drop the clause of genealogy while giving Kunbi caste certificate to Marathas from Marathwada.
A former state minister met Jarange on Thursday with an appeal to end his 10-day-old fast over the reservation issue. Jarange, on an indefinite fast since August 29 at Antarwali Sarati village in Jalna district demanding reservation for Marathas in jobs and education, sought an amendment to a Government Regulation (GR) on providing Kunbi caste certificate to community members.
Jarange welcomed the GR but sought removal of the condition of providing genealogical records while issuing Kunbi caste certificate to Marathas from Marathwada.
