Dia Mirza’s former manager Rahila Furniturewala accused of aiding drug syndicate across India

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday arrested Bollywood actress Dia Mirza's former manager and her sister for their alleged links with the drug trade. NCB also arrested a British national, Karan Sajnani, and seized 75 kilograms of marijuana-which is known as OG Kush and is a strain of Cannabis-125 kilograms of mixed marijuana and 1.5 kilograms of the marijuana bud, from him.

The former manager have been identified as Rahila Furniturewala, 35, and her sister Sahista Furniturewala, 30. An officer from NCB said, "We have detained Sajnani, and he is said to be the kingpin in India and runs an international drug syndicate from here. He also supplies drugs to many states." Another officer said, "On the evening of December 31, Sajnani had supplied drugs to many customers, which we are probing." Further investigations have revealed that Sajnani would supply drugs to Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya.

According to NCB sources, the accused would import the marijuana bud from America by giving false information to custom officials and bring them in unnamed boxes.

Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director NCB Mumbai unit, said, "Imported strains of ganja like OG Kush and a curated marijuana have been recovered. The contraband was sourced from USA and other areas in India. Two Indian nationals and one British National have been arrested." On the basis of specific information, NCB Mumbai effected a seizure of ganja from one courier company located at Bandra West. In the follow-up operation, a huge stash of imported strains of ganja was recovered from Sajnani, a Khar resident.

During questioning, Sajnani revealed that ganja and buds were recovered from Rahila Furniturewala, who is also suspect in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Her sister Shaista was arrested as she too was found in possession of ganja. The Total contraband seized was approximately 200 kg.

Police say that the activity was supported by Rahila who provided financial aid. The Furniturewallas' lawyer, Adv. Trivankumar Karnani, said, "We will analyse the NCB case, sections imposed under the NDPS act and accordingly approach the competent court and seek appropriate remedies to protect our clients interests."
