After a dispute over the PUBG game, five friends allegedly kidnapped one of their social media friends from Sakinaka, assaulted him and released him after forcibly withdrawing Rs 10,000, using the victim's debit card account in DN Nagar, Andheri, on Sunday night.

DN Nagar police have registered the case and arrested five accused - Asad Ali Ashraf Ali Sheikh, Divesh Reddy, Atif Sheikh, Rajesh Bender, and Rasool Sheikh. All the accused are in the age group of 20 to 24 years.

According to the police sources, the 23-year-old victim is a resident of Khairani Road, Andheri East and works as an AC mechanic. He had met the accused on Facebook a few days ago. After getting acquainted, he played PUBG on his mobile phone whenever he could. One of the arrested accused had given the complainant an ID for the game for Rs 4,000. However, there was an argument over the amount.

On Sunday night, the five accused came to Khairani Road and picked up the complainant on a motorcycle to Andheri West. After assaulting him, they forcibly withdrew R10,000 from his account. The victim, after he was released, informed the police control room about the incident.

The police arrived at the scene and booked five accused. "We have arrested five accused from the Andheri area. We have handed them over to the Sakinaka police for further action," said an officer from DN Nagar police station.

"The accused were produced before the court on Tuesday and were remanded in police custody. I request the youth and children to stay away from this game," said police inspector Dinkar Raut from Sakinaka police station. "PUBG game has been banned in India. After the ban, some youngsters use pirated versions," another officer said.
