Work being done on the overhead equipment
In an important step towards completion of the Dahisar-D N Nagar Metro line 2A project, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has started work on the overhead equipment (OHE). MMRDA expects to start the trial run on the corridor by March-April this year.
Work on the OHE is one of the major milestones in the Metro Rail Project. The OHE mainly consists of the mast, cantilever, contact and catenary wires. The mast and cantilever have already been erected.
The stringing of contact and catenary wires has also been started. In the Metro system, the Metro car (rolling stock) collects the electric power for its propulsion from the contact wire through the pantograph. OHE is one of the vital milestones to starting the Metro train trial on the 25kv traction system.
Tweeting about this, MMRDA said, "@MMRDAOfficial starts OHE wiring on line 2A via duct. Committed to start trial run by March-April."
