A history sheeter from Uttar Pradesh with a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head has been nabbed in a joint operation by the Navi Mumbai police and the Varanasi unit of the Special Task Force of that state, an official said on Monday, reported news agency PTI.
Haris alias Chhotu Abdul Aziz (23) had escaped from UP two months ago and was hiding in Panvel, from where he was held on a tip off, Panvel police station senior inspector Niteen Thackeray said, reported PTI.
"He has 33 cases against his name, including ones under Gangster Act, double murder with dacoity, attempt to murder etc. He hails from Azamgarh and has a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head," Thackeray said, reported PTI.
Aziz was driving an aggregator cab in Panvel and adjoining areas using the licence and other documents of his brother, Thackeray said, adding UP STF deputy superintendent of police Shailendra Singh assisted in the search that led to the arrest, reported PTI.

In another incident, a 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a policeman and biting him during a brawl in Navi Mumbai, an official said on Monday, reported PTI.
The incident occurred behind a mall in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai on Saturday, the official said, reported PTI.
The police on Sunday arrested Kapil Jogendrasingh Rana under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, sub-inspector Nilesh Borse of the Vashi Police station said, reported PTI.
The police constable received a call about a public brawl behind a mall in the area around 11.40 pm on Saturday, and on reaching the spot, he tried pacifying the persons involved but was attacked and bitten by the accused, he said, reported PTI.
The constable sustained injuries to his face and fingers and was administered first aid, the official said, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, police have registered offences against the manager and three other persons working at a restaurant in Navi Mumbai for violating norms after some female singers there were found allegedly indulging in obscene acts, an official said on Sunday, reported PTI.
A police team conducted a raid at the restaurant-cum-bar located on Palm Beach road in Vashi area at around 1 am on Saturday and found violation of norms at the establishment, the official from APMC police station said, reported PTI.
