An elevated deck is set to come up to connect the station to Patri Pul Road Overbridge
In what promises to be one of the biggest-ever railway rejig projects in Mumbai, the Kalyan yard remodelling, that has now become crucial for seamless entry-exit into Mumbai from all parts of India as Diva-Thane new lines get ready, is set to begin soon. It involves dismantling of as many as 32 functional lines, construction of four new platforms, elevated decks that would connect Kalyan station to Patri Pul directly and more foot overbridges.
Once complete, the remodelling of Kalyan station will allow seamless entry and exit of trains into Mumbai from north and south India with it playing an ideal host. "Yes. It will be by far the biggest rail realignment project. The Kalyan yard remodelling project will begin this year. It will not only ease commuting and avoid rail jams but also create more passenger amenities. The project will increase the existing platforms and will also create a Kalyan East access for commuters, which is at present almost absent," a top official from Central Railway said.
