Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday hoisted the national flag at Mantralaya on Mumbai as the nation marks its 77th Independence Day.
After hoisting the national flag, Eknath Shinde said independence Day is a day to reflect on our past and work for a better future.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has removed the "pest of corruption".
The CM hoisted the national flag at the state secretariat Mantralaya in Mumbai on the occasion of the Independence Day.

He later also hoisted the tricolour at his official residence 'Varsha' and at the Bombay High Court.
In his speech at the Mantralaya, the CM said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in 2014 that focus has to be on efficient governance and development of the country. The PM has removed the pest of corruption."
"In the past, when the government used to send Re 1 to people, only 15 paise would reach the beneficiaries. With the help of DBT (direct benefit transfer), the entire Re 1 now reaches into the bank accounts of beneficiaries," he said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde felicitated Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) personnel on the occasion of the Independence Day on Tuesday and lauded their work after a landslide at Irshalwadi in neighbouring Raigad district last month.
Shinde hoisted the national flag at the Shiv Sena's Thane city office at midnight.
After the flag hoisting, he felicitated the TDRF jawans at a brief function.
He lauded the work done by Thane's fire services, TDRF and regional disaster management cell (RDMC) teams during emergencies and asked them to continue the good work.
Earlier today, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the government is working round-the-clock for all sections of the society and the state will have a "1 trillion dollar" share in India's 5 trillion dollar economy dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Fadnavis was addressing a gathering after hoisting the national flag in Nagpur on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The Maharashtra government is working 24x7 for all sections of the society, he said.
"The government will work to transform the lives of people. Maharashtra will have a share of 1 trillion dollar in the 5 trillion dollar economy dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
