Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar welcomed the government's decision to award the Bharat Ratna to BJP leader and former deputy prime minister LK Advani. Pawar noted that Advani, despite his differing political ideas, made major contributions to the country's progress.
Addressing the media in Pune, Pawar emphasised Advani's accomplishments as a politician and Union minister. In a tweet, he expressed his delight at Advani being awarded the Bharat Ratna, emphasising the leader's enormous contributions to India's prosperity.
He in his tweet wrote, "India's former Deputy Prime Minister and senior leader LK Advani is delighted to be awarded Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour. He has made a valuable contribution in the development of the country, heartiest congratulations..!"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision to award Bharat Ratna to the 96-year-old Advani, recognizing him as one of the most respected statesmen with monumental contributions to the country's development. Modi described it as an emotional moment and personally congratulated Advani, acknowledging his life's journey from grassroots work to serving as Deputy Prime Minister.
PM Modi wrote, "I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honour. One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental. His is a life that started from working at the grassroots to serving the nation as our Deputy Prime Minister. He distinguished himself as our Home Minister and I&B Minister as well. His Parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary, full of rich insights."
The decision to confer Bharat Ratna on Advani marks a significant recognition of his enduring impact on Indian politics, particularly during the 90s when he played a pivotal role in the BJP's ascent to power.
