Atleast 12 people were injured after a private bus crashed into a street pole in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Friday.
The incident took place on Friday evening when a private bus met with an accident on Ghodbunder Road in Thane. The incident occurred at around 18:29 hours when the bus collided with a street pole while traveling on Patlipada Bridge, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said.
According to the RDMC, as soon as the incident was reported, the Manpada police, city traffic department, disaster management room personnel, electrical department personnel, and fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene. They were equipped with one crane machine, one pickup vehicle, one emergency vehicle, and one rescue vehicle.
The accident caused slow-moving traffic on the affected road. The authorities swiftly used the crane machine to move the bus to the side of the road, clearing the way for other vehicles.

The private bus was reportedly carrying around 25 to 27 passengers at the time of the accident. The bus was en route to Thane station Kopri from Ghodbunder Road, Kasarwadvali, the officials said.
In the accident 12 people were reportedly injured. They were immediately rushed to a hospital for medical assistance.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and efforts are underway to identify the driver and owner of the bus. The authorities have urged anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
Chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell Yasin Tadvi said the bus was on its way from Ghodbunder to Thane.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a chemical-laden truck caught fire after a tyre burst on Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Buldhana district, police said on Friday.
The driver and the cleaner escaped unhurt as they got out of the vehicle after the tyre burst, an official said.
The accident took place at Mehkar around 11 pm, when the truck was heading towards Nagpur from Mahad MIDC in Raigad district, he said.
After the tyre burst, the truck caught fire. The flames spread to the chemical barrels in the vehicle, and it was completely gutted within minutes, the official said.
