Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray will hold a meeting with the state Covid-19 task force today at 3:30 pm.
The meeting will be held in virtual format.
This comes at a time when Mumbai saw a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases on Thursday.
This week the cases in the city rose from 490 to 2,200 in just seven days. During the second wave it took over a month. On February 15, the city registered 493 cases and they had increased to 2,201 on March 17.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said on Wednesday that Mumbai's test positivity rate has increased to 4 per cent and it would be alarming if it crossed the 5 per cent mark in the coming days. He said though a lockdown isn't needed at this stage, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the State COVID Task Force, and the Health Department would think about bringing in strict measures to prevent crowding that has been on the rise due to functions, in public places/transport and establishments.
