The Maharashtra government, in a major reshuffle, transferred 86 police personnel from Mumbai Police, including 65 officers of the Mumbai Crime Branch following the Sachin Waze episode.

The officers transferred included senior PI, API and PSI ranked personnel. The transfer order was signed by the joint commissioner of police (administration) of the Mumbai Police.

Of the 86 cops transferred, 65 were working in the Crime Branch. A source in the Mumbai police said, "These officers were suspected of being close confidants of Waze and had been bypassing senior officers to remain in touch with him."

API Riyazuddin Kazi, who worked closely with Waze, has been shunted to the Local Arms unit. Kazi had been questioned by the NIA in connection with the SUV bomb scare case. The major reshuffle is part of a makeover of the force.
