Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, in his Republic Day address after hoisting the national flag at Shivaji Park, emphasised the state's commitment to growth in all areas. He asked citizens to work together to develop a new and stronger Maharashtra, stated a PTI report.

Per the report, Governor Bais mentioned a number of successes, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of the 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu,' the country's longest sea bridge. He also underlined the substantial MoUs signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, totalling over Rs 3.53 lakh crore.

Governor Bais emphasised the government's commitment to farmers' interests by stating that over Rs 2,100 crore in compensation had been paid to 45.35 lakh farmers facing hardships during the karif season of 2023. Additionally, subsidies under the 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana' and 'Namo Shetkari Maha Sanman Nidhi' were emphasised, which help eligible farmer households, the PTI report added.

"My government has always given priority to the interests of farmers. More than Rs 2,100 crore compensation has been paid to 45.35 lakh farmers who were in trouble due to adverse conditions in the karif season of 2023," the governor said.

According to the PTI report, Governor Bais listed significant actions, including removing silt from the state's waterways to prevent flooding, implementing the 'Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan 2.0' in about 5,700 villages, and launching the 'Mahaavas Abhiyan' to speed up rural housing projects. He also noted the formation of a Marathi language university, a women-centric tourist programme known as 'Aai,' and continuing development initiatives such as Mumbai Coastal Road.

"My government launched the 'Mahaavas Abhiyan' to accelerate rural housing schemes. A total of 6.31 lakh self-help groups have been formed in the state under the Maharashtra State Rural Development Mission," he said.

"My government has taken up the capacity-building project (missing link) on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Work on the Greenfield Konkan Expressway, Virar to Alibaug Multi-Purpose Corridor Project, Preservation and Conservation of ancient temples are also in progress," he said.

Regarding the Maratha quota, Governor Bais announced the formation of a committee chaired by Justice Sandeep Shinde (retd) and the state government's curative case filed before the Supreme Court. He stated that the government is dedicated to resolving the issue effectively.
