A day after the Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 were announced, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed the desire to be relieved from the government. While addressing a press conference after a meeting at the BJP's state unit headquarters in Mumbai, Fadnavis said that he wants to work hard for the party in upcoming elections.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "I take the responsibility for such results in Maharashtra. I was leading the party. I am requesting the BJP high command to relieve me from the responsibility of the government so that I can work hard for the party in upcoming elections."

Although the party won nine seats in the state per Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, its tally dwindled by 14 as compared to the 2019 parliamentary polls.
"This debacle that happened in Maharashtra, our seats have reduced, the entire responsibility for this is mine. I accept this responsibility and will try to fulfill whatever is lacking. I am not a person who will run away... we will prepare a new strategy and after preparing a new strategy we will go among the public," Devendra Fadnavis said speaking about the Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, stated ANI report.
Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: BJP wins 17 seats
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BJP won 23 seats in Maharashtra. However, in Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, the BJP and its allies won 17 of the state's 48 Lok Sabha seats, with the BJP's tally at 9. The BJP-led NDA fell far short of their objective of 45 or more seats in Maharashtra, winning only 17 seats.
