Taking a dig at his opponents, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said that many are trying to 'checkmate' him since last one year but their dreams are not being realised, the PTI reported.
Speaking in a video message for an event where grandmaster Viswanathan Anand was the guest, CM Shinde said that he enjoys public trust, according to the PTI.
Many are planning to checkmate me since last one year, but their dreams are not being realised. The opponents may use all their brains but I have the support and trust of people," CM Eknath Shinde said.
In politics, one has to fight many battles at the same time. Some use the manoeuvre of a camel (piece in chess) and move diagonally, some use the moves of a horse and elephant and work to checkmate the other, the CM said.

Today it is necessary for leaders like us to play chess to fight political opponents, Shinde said.
Some people call us the grandmaster of politics after our revolution last year, Shinde said, referring to the revolt he led which culminated in the split of the Shiv Sena and fall of the Uddhav Thackeray government.
He also termed his mentor and late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe the grandmaster of Thane.
Meanwhile, CM Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has removed the "pest of corruption".
The CM hoisted the national flag at the state secretariat Mantralaya in Mumbai on the occasion of the Independence Day.
He later also hoisted the tricolour at his official residence 'Varsha' here and at the Bombay High Court.
In his speech at the Mantralaya, the CM said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in 2014 that focus has to be on efficient governance and development of the country. The PM has removed the pest of corruption.
In the past, when the government used to send Re 1 to people, only 15 paise would reach the beneficiaries. With the help of DBT (direct benefit transfer), the entire Re 1 now reaches into the bank accounts of beneficiaries," he said.
