What is the case about?
According to the reports, in Maharashtra's Beed district, MLC Dhas's wife and two others were implicated in allegations of brutality and assault. The accused are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for the alleged disrobing and assault of a tribal woman in a field.
Reportedly, the incident in question took place in Ashti Police Station limits in Beed and the accused involved are Prajakta Suresh Dhas, Rahul Jagdale, and Raghav Pawar. The accused are being probed for their alleged involvement in the incident. They have been charged under IPC Sections 354, 354B, 323, 504, 506, 354A, 34, and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The woman claimed that the BJP legislator's wife, Prajakta Dhas, attempted to forcibly seize her ancestral land with the help of her associates and that the incident happened on October 15 evening when the woman, with her family, was on the field collecting bullock carts to gather cattle fodder. She claimed that the land in her question has been their ancestral property for over 60 years while Dhas claims it is hers.
