A 37-year-old scientific officer working with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) allegedly died by suicide on Thursday. Police officials said the officer, identified as Anuj Tripathi, allegedly had an argument with his wife over food. Trombay cops have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the matter.

According to Trombay cops, Anuj was living with his wife and children at Akashratna building in BARC Colony. On Thursday morning, Anuj had an argument with his wife Saroj over giving food to their children.

"The fight happened in the morning around 9.30 am, after which Anuj went to his bedroom and hanged himself to the ceiling fan with a towel," an officer from Trombay police station said.

When Anuj didn't come out of the room for an hour, Saroj knocked on the door and after waiting for a while she alerted her neighbors. When the door was opened by the neighbours, they found Anuj hanging. He was immediately rushed to BARC Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. "We have filed an Accidental Death Report in connection with the matter. The investigation is going on," added the officer.
