A 55-year-old chief booking supervisor died by suicide in his office at Vidyavihar Railway Station on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kailash Kadam, a resident of Kolsewadi Kalyan. He was found hanging from the ceiling in his cabin. According to preliminary information, he took the extreme step between 8 am and 11 am.
His job profile is to supervise and monitor ticket booking clerks at the station. Kadam's duty hours were from 9 am to 5 pm, but on Thursday he reached the office around 8 am and went into his cabin.
"One of his colleagues saw him hanging from the ceiling and immediately informed the railway cops," told an officer from Ghatkopar police station.
"We rushed Kadam to Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared brought dead," the officer added.

Kadam is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Senior railway officials visited the booking office, but the reason behind suicide has not been ascertained yet. Officials told Mid-day that as per his colleagues, he had taken some loan and was stressed because of it. However, there is no official confirmation about this. Central Railway chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar confirmed the incident.
Ghatkopar police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are investigating the matter.
