Motorists waiting to use the Aarey Milk Colony road to reach Powai from Goregaon will have to brave heavy traffic on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road for some more time as authorities have just demolished an old bridge on Mithi river near Filter Pada.

"We have constructed two temporary ramps on either side of the old bridge so that two-wheelers and three-wheelers don't face any problem. We are expecting to finish the entire work before the monsoon.
Till then, four-wheeler riders will have to use JVLR," said a BMC official.

The Aarey main road provides a shortcut to motorists between Western Express Highway and Powai and some relief from heavy congestion on JVLR, which has become even worse with the construction of the Swami Samarth Nagar-Kanjurmarg Metro line. Commuting on JVLR becomes excruciating during morning and evening peak hours.

The Aarey colony road has been out of bounds for cars and heavy vehicles for the past month after the BMC began work on the bridge over Mithi river at Morarji Nagar near Filter Pada.
