A member of the Revolutionary Workers' Party of India has accused the Mankhurd Police of physically assaulting him in custody. The Party intended to stage a demonstration in Dadar expressing solidarity with the people in Palestine and were denied permission by the Matunga Police Station. They then intended to seek permission from the Mankhurd Police Station to protest in the area.
They allege they were meeting in the Shahid Bhagat Singh Library when the police detained the party's members. When member Supreeth Ravish went to the police station to ask why they had been detained, he too was arrested. By this time, the party members - including Ruchir Lad - had gathered outside the police station; the police proceeded to arrest Lad too.

The magistrate asked Lad to show his wounds in the chamber and recorded his statement. Speaking to mid-day, Lad's colleague Pooja said, "When we spoke to Ruchir, he said that API ATS Sushant Salvi had hit him with a belt. We will apply for anticipatory bail."
