Though winter has started, Santacruz was the warmest region in the subcontinent in the 24-hour period that ended on the morning of December 1, according to meteorological information site ogimet.com. Of Asian regions, Mumbai (Santacruz) ranked 19th, according to the site, while Chauk in Myanmar topped the list with 38.4 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) Santacruz observatory on Wednesday was a scorching 35.2 degrees Celsius. Ratnagiri was second place in the sub-continent on the list, with a maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius during the same period.

Meteorologists say there are a few warm days in store for Mumbaikars. In his forecast, which is up to Friday, November 2, Rajesh Kapadia of Vagaries of Weather, a popular private weather blog, said, "There will be dry weather in north India. In the absence of any western disturbance (WD), daytime weather is comfortable and not extremely cold. Winter chill at night prevails over the northern plains. It is getting cooler over Maharashtra."

The IMD has predicted warm weather for the next one or two days. "Maximum temperature is likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature will be 21 degrees Celsius for the next 24 to 48 hours," said an IMD official.
As per IMD, in the 24 hours ending on the morning of December 1, the maximum temperature in the suburbs and Colaba was 35.2 2 and 33 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum temperature recorded in this period in the suburbs and south Mumbai was 20.2 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively.
