Drayson, the killer in police custody
The Bangur Nagar police successfully arrested Drayson D'Sa in Kolkata, who was on the run after allegedly murdering his wife, Chitra, and elder brother, Damien D'Sa. The police initially faced challenges tracking the accused but obtained a lead four days after the incident. Subsequent teams were dispatched to various locations, including Goa, Bangalore, and Kolkata. With the assistance of the state Special Task Force (STF), the accused was detained in Kolkata on Wednesday and brought back to Mumbai last night.
Police sources disclosed that Drayson, to avoid detection, removed and deliberately damaged the SIM card of his mobile phone. Drayson, showing no remorse for the murders, revealed the motive behind the killings. A dispute over vaccinating their one-and-a-half-month-old daughter led to a heated argument. Chitra insisted on a private hospital, while Drayson favoured a government facility. In a fit of rage, Drayson attacked Chitra with a baseball bat. Damien tried to intervene, attempting to stop the altercation, but Drayson continued the assault on both victims, according to a Bangur Nagar police officer.
Drayson D'Sa who was on the run after committing the double murder
After scanning footage from around 2,000 CCTV cameras from Mumbai to Kolkata the cops discovered that following the murders, Drayson took an auto-rickshaw to Borivli East National Park, bought a bus ticket to Goa, and, deviating from his original bus plan, opted for a cab to Panvel. From Panvel took a bus to Goa. He stayed in a guesthouse in Goa for two days and then travelled to Bangalore by train, sold his gold chain to stay in a guest house, and then took a train to Kolkata. Facing financial constraints, he sold his gold pendant while living in various guest houses in Kolkata. With the assistance of Kolkata STF, Bangur Nagar police officers arrested Drayson in the New City area on Wednesday morning.

Drayson had a previous experience witnessing a murder in 2015, where a mother, having an affair with the watchman, conspired to kill her son. The Bangur Nagar police successfully arrested the mother, but the accused watchman remains at large, reportedly fleeing to Nepal. Drayson was aware of the challenges of pursuing suspects across borders and therefore planned a similar escape route to Nepal.
Under the supervision of ACP Renuka Bagde and the efforts of Senior Inspector Pramod Tavde, Police Inspector Bhaskar Kadam, API Bankar, Sarolkar, Ramekar, Vivek Tambe, PSI Piyush Tare, and the entire team, the accused was arrested, said DCP Ajaykumar Bansal.
