The Central Railway (CR) has scheduled a special traffic block on a section of the Harbour Line for Thursday night, stated an ANI report. This block is necessary to facilitate non-interlocking work related to the construction of the sixth line between Khar Road and Goregaon stations, according to an announcement made on Wednesday.
As per a press release from the Central Railway (CR), the ten-hour special block will be enforced on both Down and UP lines, specifically between Andheri and Goregaon stations along the Harbour corridor. The block is set to be in operation from 00.30 am to 10.30 am, covering the intervening night of October 26 and 27.
During this block period, suburban services on the Harbour Line between Andheri and Goregaon will not be available, the release stated. The last local train departing for Goregaon from Mumbai CSMT is scheduled for 22.54 pm on October 26, while the return journey from Goregaon to Mumbai CSMT is slated for 12.07 am on October 27.
Following the conclusion of the traffic block, the first suburban train bound for Goregaon from Mumbai CSMT is expected to depart at 11.16 am. Conversely, the first local train heading to Mumbai CSMT from Goregaon is set to leave at 11.23 am, as confirmed in the release.

It is noteworthy that the Harbour Line falls under the operation of the Central Railway, while the Western Railway is overseeing the construction of the sixth line between Khar Road and Goregaon stations. A portion of the Harbour Line runs parallel to the suburban network of the Western Railway.
Train blocks, which temporarily suspend services, are crucial for the maintenance of rail tracks and related infrastructure works.
Earlier today, Western Railway announced cancellation of over 2,500 local train services in Mumbai from October 27 to November 5, to commission the sixth line. According to the statement, 43 mail and express trains will face complete cancellations, while 188 others will be partially cancelled or short-terminated, a railway term indicating the early termination of services before the scheduled final destination. The Chief PRO of WR, Sumit Thakur emphasized that meticulous planning is crucial to minimise disruptions for passengers.
