Uddhav Thackeray took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine at JJ Hospital on Thursday.
The number of senior citizens who have received their first vaccine shots in the city touched 1.05 lakh on Monday, a week after the drive to immunise the elderly population began.
Mumbai has 65 vaccination centres that can administer about 24,000 doses in a day. The centres stepped up their efforts and collectively inoculated 40,502 people, including about 30,000 senior citizens and 4,708 people who got their second shots and 3,212 people with comorbidities. This translates to a 160 per cent capacity utilisation.
