Anahita Pandole, who was injured in the car crash that killed industrialist Cyrus Mistry and his friend Jehangir Pandole on September 4, has undergone pelvic reconstructive surgery. The renowned gynaecologist went under the knife on Thursday at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital.
Dr Tarang Gianchandani, CEO, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, said "Dr Anahita Pandole has been operated on for pelvic reconstruction by an expert team of doctors. Given the complex pelvic fracture, multiple opinions of various experts around the world were also taken, including doctors from the US, UK and Europe. The team that conducted the surgery includes Dr Vaibhav Bagaria, director, department of orthopaedics; Dr Dilip Tanna, mentor, orthopaedics; Dr Darius Soonawala, consultant, orthopaedics; and senior anaesthetist Dr Daisy along with trained nurses and technicians."

Also, an expert, Dr Peter V Giannoudis, had been flown from the UK to advise the team. Giannoudis is the chairman of the Academic Department of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Leeds in the UK.

Dr Tarang added, "With a team of 20-plus multi-disciplinary experts, we had been monitoring the condition of Dr Anahita closely for the past 11 days before planning any surgical intervention. Pelvic surgery was concluded on Thursday morning with precise techniques, clinical skills and modern technologies."
Dr Pandole and her husband Darius were returning from Gujarat when the accident occurred. The couple were admitted to Rainbow Hospital at Vapi. The following day, they were shifted injured to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital.
