A team from the Tardeo police station returns the laptop to Dr Rujul Jhaveri
Within two days of a gynaecologist forgetting her laptop in a taxi that she had taken to reach work at NH SRCC Children's hospital at Haji Ali, the Tardeo police traced the driver and returned the gadget to her. The cops said that the driver had kept the laptop at his home, but did not have an intention to sell it. The logo of a cartoon character on one of the mirrors in the taxi, a piece of information that the woman shared with the police, helped them trace the vehicle to the driver's home in Grant Road. The cops had also scanned about 50-60 CCTV cameras in the Haji Ali area.
Gynaecologist Rujul Jhaveri, who resides at Vile Parle, had lost the laptop on Saturday. On Monday, the cops reached the taxi driver's home and brought back the laptop, which has important data related to her patients. The driver has been identified as Ramkumar Gupta.
Speaking to mid-day, senior inspector Sanjay Jagtap of Tardeo police station said, "Around 4 pm on Saturday when Dr Jhaveri reached the hospital she realised that she had left her laptop in the taxi which she had boarded from her home. She immediately rushed out and tried to locate the vehicle but could not find it. She had told us that one of the mirrors in the vehicle had the logo of a cartoon character."
"After registering a missing complaint we started our investigation and scanned about 50-60 CCTV cameras in the area. Finally we traced the vehicle to the driver's home. The driver should have informed us about the laptop, but he kept it at his home. Thereafter, we returned it to the doctor," Jagtap added.
However, the police said that the driver did not have any intention of selling the gadget and he wanted to return it. This is why the cops released him after recovering the laptop.
