Mumbai: Fire breaks out at Vasai school, two teachers rescued

A fire broke out at St. Anne's school in Vasai (West) on Wednesday morning due to a short-circuit in the store room, said fire brigade officials. Two teachers were rescued from the third floor of the building by locals. No casualties were reported.

As per officials, the incident occurred around 11 am at St. Anne's school on Vidhya Mandir road, Vasai (West). Two fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and managed to control the blaze within an hour.

The fire was extinguished within an hour.

Speaking to mid-day, a local resident Avinash Kuse said, "I was outside the school in the morning with my friend Pravin Nalavade and we saw smoke coming out from the third floor of the building. I alerted the fire brigade and immediately went inside. The watchman asked all school teachers to come outside but two were missing. We rushed to the third floor and found that the teachers locked themselves in the classroom as they were scared. We took them out of the building. Later, the fire brigade arrived at the spot and managed to control the blaze within an hour."
